Long before Mike met Jonas (The Price of Freedom, Young Love Volume 86), he was trapped in a battle with his homosexual tendencies, always trying to defend his reputation as the king of a ghetto neighborhood. Alongside his gang of youths, led by the hyperactive Kevin and the deceitful Andy, he fights and drinks his way through his world. Their lives are without meaning or plan, their everyday life consists of burglaries and thefts, parties and drug excesses. And even when Kevin's sister Jaqueline becomes pregnant and nobody knows exactly who the father is, things quickly resume their usual course after a brief shock. When young Fabian joins the group one day, Mike is immediately attracted to him. He takes him into his gang and introduces him to the hard life on the street, but at the same time tries to protect him from the dangers and keep him out of any criminal activities. In an attempt to prove himself to his friends, Fabian gets involved in increasingly risky activities. The third part of the Jonas & Mike series tells the prequel to The Price of Freedom and A Place in the World.
